Komodo National Park

Komodo National Park is one of Indonesia’s most remarkable natural destinations, famous for its legendary Komodo dragons, dramatic island scenery, and some of the richest marine biodiversity in the world. Located in East Nusa Tenggara, the park covers more than 1,800 square kilometers of land and sea, including the main islands of Komodo, Rinca, and Padar, along with many smaller islands.

Established in 1980, Komodo National Park was originally created to protect the endangered Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis), the world’s largest living lizard. In 1991, the park was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, highlighting its global importance for wildlife conservation, natural beauty, and marine ecosystems.
